About the film

Fisherman Jarda pays a visit to a beautiful south bohemian pond where he intends to go fishing. He carefully puts his bike away, prepares all the necessary equipment, gives himself a drink and then happily waits. The waiting is somewhat long which causes him to fall asleep in the beautiful surrounding countryside. He awakes when his fishing line finally comes to life. He immediately tries to pull the fine-looking carp to the shore. To his surprise, the carp isn’t the only one who gets to the shore.

Film facts

My first student film (capturing workflow), was shot in June 2021. This exercise aimed to showcase the filmmaker's ability to capture arbitrary activity and its result completely without dialogue. This type of storytelling was purposely chosen so that we could experiment with different types of framing, shot sizes, and editing, in other words, become familiar with the film language. The story’s theme, as well as the script, was in development from January. Nevertheless, it was shot after the restrictions of the pandemic eased out.
