Matěj František Preisler

About

I come from a family whose significance lies in arts, especially music. I am a son of a late exceptionally talented conductor František Preisler ml., who worked closely with Karel Gott. My mother is a successful violinist Radka Preislerová who is a member of the orchestra of the Czech National theatre.

Beginnings

At the age of nine, I joined Kühn’s child choir, thanks to which I had the opportunity to perform in multiple operas that took place in Prague’s National Theatre and the Estates Theatre. There I portrayed several extra roles, oftentimes also non-singing episodic roles that were a part of premiere theatre plays such as “Jakobín”, “Carmen”, “Únos ze Serailu”, “Tosca”, “Gloriana”, “Parsifal”...).

Moreover, the time spent at Kühn’s choir rewarded me with varied acting experience. I took part in a mini-opera “Rybova mše”, a musical “Čert a Káča aneb Peklo v pekle” (author J. Teml, dir. E.H. Toperzzerová) and “Merry Wives of Windsor” hosted by annually held summer Shakespeares celebrations. Since December 2024 I am member of ARAS.

Studies

In the year 2015, I left the path of being a singer and headed towards a new path of filmmaking. I enrolled in a film and TV school ELF Dream where I gained an understanding of cinematography as well as editing basics. Furthermore, I enhanced my knowledge of acting and directing skills and became familiar with concepts of producing as well as scriptwriting. This acquired knowledge lead me to create and perform in a musical video clip By your side by Tonya Graves. Besides this project, I was working hard on a feature-length coproduction film Eliška a svět fantazie.

I also do dubbing.

Personal projects

Throughout the years, I’ve also put a lot of effort into my projects and videos, however, most of them are not public. These projects allowed me to further explore the skills that I learned at school. One such project is a satirically oriented news programme called Na cimpr campr that contains voice imitations. Over and above, I also take roles of extras and managed to direct and shoot a personal short fiction film Fixit..

Present time

Since 2020, I am studying fiction film directing at FAMO in Písek. Outside the university, I recently shot an engaging show called Pod zakrytým úsměvem starring J. Krampol. And I have recently joined forces with an actor Michal Pazderka with whom we created a creative duo calledMP's . This duo has successfully created few audio-visual projects. And during my master's studies I was supported, together with three other classmates, by a scholarship from FTV Prima, for which I work as an assistant director.
